Manor Art’s “raison d’etre” is creating perfect pictures and wall art….it’s our passion, it’s what we like doing best, and it’s what we are good at!
Don’t just take our word for it, read our story, see our client testimonials and view our galleries. Click on the tab and meet the team…We’re based central to most of the U.K in a pretty little village just outside Manchester called Middleton!
We are a very diverse bunch, who work well together and we believe in the good old fashioned work ethic…work hard/play hard.
We thrive on creativity and love the challenge of the client brief in “Making it happen”….and within the deadline. With our in house team of artists, graphic designers, crafted technicians, framers & fitters we can create and install everything that is wall art.
The business was originally a small picture framing store established in Manchester in the 1980’s when current director Clive Bradley started the shop with a family loan. As the business became established there were a number of relocations to new premises, and the Manor Art name became ever more popular when it relocated to a store in the centre of the town on Fountain Street.
Clive was then joined in the business by Ray Aston, a local businessman who had honed his sales skills with companies like Kellogg’s, Levi’s, and Wilsons Brewery. Between the two of them, along with a small but dedicated team, they began to develop a real reputation for a quality product backed by a professional installation service. Over the next few years this business grew annually, and a further relocation to the current two unit site on Mills Hill Estate took place as new contracts in the Care home markets and the hospitality sector were secured. Since its humble beginnings as a retail shop on the town centre, Manor Art now produces framed prints, paintings and bespoke products for many of the biggest names in the industry.
In 2013 the business was sold to Shackleton’s Ltd – a respected West Yorkshire furniture business that trades in a number of the same market sectors to Manor Art. This complimentary partnership is designed to ensure that the company can continue to flourish, continue it’s steady growth pattern and expand into some exciting new areas….this ensuring that
Manor Art….as seen in all the best places!!
Our pack leader!
Kevin will try tell you that he is simply on missionary work from across the Pennines in “God’s own county” Yorkshire, and being a staunch Leeds United fan, he further adds to the teams eclectic mix of football tribalism at the unit!
Kevin is renowned for his early morning starts, in fact we have never seen anyone start at the time he does apart from the milkman and late night security. He puts that down to an aversion to M62 traffic and the fact that he likes to get ahead, we think more like he has a love of cold dark mornings and an even bigger love a breakfast as the best meal of the day!
A veteran of the U.K FMCG and retail markets, Kevin is currently implementing new commercial systems and procedures required for today’s market, whilst also gently introducing and moving Ray towards a new world of I pad presentations, spreadsheets and lap top technology!
Apart from this “buddying role in Wi-Fi” with Ray, Kevin is another enthusiastic chef, and the two are often seen sharing latest recipes over a cup of Yorkshire tea in Unit C!
“The sorcerer”…Making it Happen!
Talk to Ray and prepare yourself for a picture framing, culinary and cultural Master class
So …Take a pinch of Bill Shankley, a heaped teaspoon of Stan Boardman…and a drizzle of Freddie Starr…meet “ Our Ray “… wall art creator, problem fixer, storyteller and part time chef!
This jovial raconteur, friend of the stars, and picture frame guru is also known by his other key trade title as “Ask Ray” and the reason why his 1989 top of the range Nokia mobile (complete with ear piece) is in constant use all day.
Rays side step is almost on par with that of his long standing partner Clive. Albeit Mr Bradley does it on the dance floor, Mr Ashton is in managing the unmanageable! You could never describe the air as “blue” around Ray…it would inevitably have to be “red”. He describes his personal finest hour as his beloved Liverpool teams come back in the Istanbul Champion league final…personally we doubt that, and would give that accolade to the moment that when the team were 0-3 down and Ray rang all his Man Utd ‘friends’ and placed bets on a Liverpool win…bravado, blind loyalty, stupidity…or perhaps canny thinking?!
With that undoubted creative and commercial thinking, and having dressed walls from John O’Groats to Lands End….if in doubt about any project …”Ask Ray”!!
Designer by name and designer by shopping style
Charlotte is the creative heart and soul of Manor, and she has a passion for producing artwork made to make you go…oooh!
This creativity is only equalled by her unrelenting appetite for picture and fashion shopping! Simply said ‘Our Charlotte’ takes the pain out of picture selection, and always takes pride in delivering the ‘Wow’ factor!
Big Chris a.k.a Chris Mottram
The leader of our on the road fitting teams, mainly on the road because otherwise he would be leading a double life dangerously as another Liverpool supporter based in Manchester…his second piece of danger emanates from the fact that he also happens to be Ray’s son in law!
We are very proud of the quality of work and service levels provided by our fitting teams, who have a significant amount of testimonials from satisfied customers giving high and wholesome recommendations. Everything from major hotel refurbishments to smaller jobs, Chris and the team love fitting pictures. Ask him nicely and he may well do you his song and dance routine…You don’t get better than a Manor Art Fitter!!
The Original member of staff!!…and as cool as an Artic Fox
A man reliably unfazed in the hectic and precise world of sizing, picture mounts and job planning. In situ a very “cool” team player, actually “ultra cool”…no in fact even cooler. Perhaps even cooler than Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke! Employee number 1 on the Manor Art payroll, here since the Manor world began as a right hand man to Clive.
Over the years Ian has also covered every part of the picture framing process from conception, initiation and installation.
A self-starter in every sense of the word!
Early morning gym sessions before starting and managing all our customer requirements and print orders. Gemma is the frontline of our Customer operations, and normally also on the ‘front grid’ of the car park, so she can keep her eye on her pride and joy…a red Vauxhall Astra called ‘Hank’! Manor Art’s answer to Suzi Perry….customer champion, girl racer and resident petrol head.
